Handi-Care Intl. WISHES YOU ALL

A VERY HAPPY and HEALTHY Holiday Season and 2019!!

Handi-Care Intl. takes this opportunity to acknowledge your support and contribution through 2018 and wants to share the year (2018) in review, to highlight some of our achievements and progress, which has been possible only by your support. HCI also acknowledges the significant contribution by our volunteer board members and other volunteers through the year.

Here are some highlights:

  • The chief physiotherapist at ASSA, Mr. Ram, won a scholarship from the Indian Spinal cord Society to travel to Canada and participate in a conference held in Montreal in Nov. 2018 and to visit specialized therapy centres across Canada in Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Toronto, to learn techniques and approaches practiced in Canada. For 2 months Ram visited several centres specializing in the treatment of spinal injury, musculoskeletal related injuries, Early Intervention therapies given to children and notably the Vestibular clinic in Toronto General Hospital. ASSA gets a lot of patients with vertigo issues where the conventional approach is not always successful. Now, Ram has gained a lot of knowledge in that area and looking forward to applying the skills in India.

  • The Early Intervention project, undertaken by HCI is in full swing. All your donations towards sponsorship of these children, under age 6 (Adopt A EI child) is being matched equally by Govt. Of Canada. In 2018, 55 new children have been sponsored (endowment + yearly) bringing the total to 233. Please click here to see the list. There are total of over 700 children in the program. We request you to consider sponsoring a few more from our wait list.

  • HCI continues to support other children(age 6 and above), and youth whose sponsorship started several years ago under "Adopt A Child" and "Sponsor A Youth" programs.

  • More universities across Canada have joined our student placement program, now totaling 11 universities and University of Colorado, USA has joined the program as well. For the first time, Speech Language therapy students from Canada will also be getting placements in ASSA, starting in 2019.

  • In 2018, HCI sponsored the clinical placement of 26 graduate students from across Canada and 6 volunteer professional therapists. Click here to view photos and click here to read testimonials.

  • SDR surgery / post surgery rehab: As of Nov. 2018, HCI has helped with 6 Surgeries and post SDR rehab. Currently raising funds for 4 who are getting the surgery in 2019. Another 4 applications are in process.
