Request from OT graduate students of Western
I am a University of Western Occupational Therapy (OT) student in my second and final year of my degree. This April I will be travelling with Handi-Care Intl to Amar Seva Sangam (ASSA) in Tamil Nadu, India for an eight-week fieldwork placement.
ASSA is a non-profit organization with the mission to empower individuals with disabilities and is “run by the disabled, for the disabled”. ASSA provides schooling, rehabilitation, vocational training and accessible and supportive housing for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. The organization focuses on sustainable development and full societal integration for these individuals. For more information about ASSA and it’s services please visit the ASSA website.
As a Canadian OT student, this is a unique opportunity for cross cultural learning and I am excited to be able to experience this educational journey and am honoured to be able learn about healthcare and rehabilitation through the ASSA community. I hope to be able to develop a wide range of skills through this placement that will help in my development as a practitioner. To recognize the contributions ASSA has made in their community and in supporting my learning experience, I am hoping to fundraise $300 towards equipment and supplies.
In addition to financial assistance, ASSA is in need of a variety of medical and rehabilitation equipment. The link below provides a list of supplies needed that I would be happy to deliver on my visit if you or someone you know wishes to donate. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
These funds are essential in supporting the organization, as ASSA runs solely on donations. Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated to help make a difference. As Handi-Care Intl is a Canadian organization, you can receive a tax receipt for your donation.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
